Designed to give the student an introduction to important American literature
from colonial times through the 1950s, this course will include works by such major authors as
Hawthorne, Emerson, Whitman, Dickinson, Douglass, Twain,
Fitzgerald, Wharton, Hemingway and Miller.

 

 

 

 

 

Students will be expected to read stories, novels, essays, and poetry, to participate
in discussion of these materials, and to write papers dealing with specific.
Students in Honors AmericanLiterature are expected to perform aspects of literature with
a greater degree of analysis and self-direction than their counterparts in American Literature.
